IRS Posts 2021 Instructions for Form 5330

The IRS has issued the 2021 version of detailed Instructions for Form 5330, Return of Excise Taxes Related to Employee Benefit Plans. The form is used to report excess contributions, prohibited transactions, reversion of qualified plan assets, excess fringe or welfare benefits paid, etc. These instructions will be reviewed for any changes of significance from the 2020 version, and findings will be shared as appropriate.

IRS Provides 2024 Electronic Filing Relief for Form 5330

The IRS notes in a new post that electronic filing of Form 5330, Return of Excise Taxes Related to Employee Benefit Plans, will not be required for the remainder of the 2024 taxable year—confirming that taxpayers may continue to file by paper.
