PBGC Updates Instructions for 4010 and Missing Participant Program Filings
The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) has released updated filing requirements related to changes its final rule on valuations and assumptions methods issued last month. Section 4010 of ERISA requires certain underfunded plans to report identifying, financial and actuarial information to PBGC. ERISA 4010 Filing Instructions for Schedule P instructions have been updated to reflect changes to assumptions used to determine benefit liabilities to be reported on Schedule P for plan years ending July 1, 2024, or later.
Additionally, the following forms instructions have been updated related to PBGC missing participant programs.
- MP-100, Missing Participants Program Filing Instructions for PBGC-insured Single-Employer Defined Benefit Plans Terminating on or after January 1, 2018
- MP-300, Missing Participants Program Filing Instructions for Small Professional Service Defined Benefit Plans Terminating on or after January 1, 2018, and
- MP-400, Missing Participants Program Filing Instructions for PBGC-Insured Multiemployer Defined Benefit Plans that Closed Out on or after January 1, 2018
The forms reflect new assumptions that are to be used for calculations where the valuation date is on or after July 31, 2024.
